John Vance Garner Jr. was born to John V. Garner Sr. and VeElla Bush Garner on December 26, 1930 in Many, Louisiana. He was baptized at an early age at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Many, Louisiana.
John Vance Garner Jr. departed this life Wednesday February 10, 2021 at Remarkable Health Skilled Nursing Facility after a battle with pneumonia. He was a fighter until the end and gave them hell until his last day. That spirit allowed him to graduate high school at a time when that was not common and even attended Southern University for a year. He owned a Tastee Freez franchise and a cattle ranch and did things his way. He wanted to make 90 and he did last December. We know that he is at rest with our Heavenly Father who saw fit to take him home.
He leaves behind two sons John Vance Garner III of Dallas, TX; Gary John Garner of Henderson, KY; daughter Courtney Garner Lewis of Fort Worth, TX; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John V. and VeElla Garner, sister Malvia Garner Albert, brother Billy Ray Garner and son Juan Garner.
