Johnny Dean Miller, a remarkable man whose generosity and humor illuminated the lives of all who knew him, died peacefully on May 6, 2025, in Irving, Texas. Born on March 23, 1953, in the vibrant city of Dallas, he lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and profound love.
Johnny was a man of many talents, carving out a distinguished career as a sheet metal journeyman. Yet, beyond this trade, he had a passion for the art of stand-up comedy—a skill through which he inspired laughter and uplifted spirits. His unique ability to weave humor into everyday situations made him not only a great public speaker but also a beloved figure among family and friends.
He was educated at South Oak Cliff High School, graduating with the Class of 1971, and later attended Mountainview College. Deeply rooted in his faith, Johnny lived a life guided by principles that shone through in every interaction. He was known for being fashionable and caring, traits that endeared him to many. His affectionate nature, coupled with his empathy, showcased a man who not only understood the joys of life but also the sorrows that connected us all. His intelligence and wit stood out, making him a captivating conversationalist and a cherished companion.
Johnny's interests were vast and diverse. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, he brought enthusiasm to every game and found joy in gathering with friends and family to celebrate victories. Cooking was another of his passions, where he expressed love and creativity, delighting those around him with meals that were nourishing and delicious. He had an eye for fashion, consistently dressing in the latest trends, and was known for his thriftiness, finding treasures that others might overlook. He was a dedicated member of the Philadelphia Church of God, and his faith was an integral part of his daily life, guiding him both in his joys and trials.
Johnny Miller is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dinah Miller; his former wife, Carolyn Miller; his sons, Jeffrey (Tameka) Miller and Timothy (LaDonna) Miller; his daughter, Jennifer (Keith) Smart; his stepdaughter, Sarah Okeke; and his brother, Edward B. (Mary) Miller. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren — Jaylen Miller, Mayah Smart, Lailah Miller, Truman Miller, Isaac Smart, Jefferson Miller, Ava Smart, Zahara Miller, and William Smart — as well as his step-granddaughter, Blessing Craddock, each of whom was blessed by his steadfast love and nurturing heart.
Johnny's life will be celebrated with a memorial service at the Hilton Garden Inn in Las Colinas, Irving, Texas, on May 15, 2025, at 7:00 PM. This occasion will allow family and friends to gather, share stories, and honor the man whose laughter brightened the darkest of days and whose kindness touched countless hearts.
