JOYCE LUCIUS

Joyce Ann Coleman Lucius was born in Denison Texas on August 1, 1937. She was born the 2nd of 5 children to the late John and Lena Coleman. Joyce grew up in Denison where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She later moved with her family to Dallas Texas where she attended and graduated from Lincoln High School and attended North Texas State University. Joyce later met David Lucius and was married on January 9,1958. To this union 5 children were added: Yolanda Lucius Carter, David Lucius Jr, Domingo Lucius, Desiderio Lucius, and Dominic Lucius. Joyce and David remained inseparable for 52 years, until David’s passing on September 30, 2010. David and Joyce hosted special family gatherings including Christmas Eve celebrations until David’s health failed him. Joyce was a devoted wife, very special and caring mother, loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and loving grandmother and great grandmother. During the years, Joyce worked at Texas Instruments, and later worked for her father at John Coleman Jr., Automobiles. After retiring, Joyce and David moved to Cadereyta, NL Mexico in 1988 where they built their retirement home. They lived there 10 years before returning to Dallas in 1998. Joyce was a member of First Family Church, Pastor R. Mitchell, Dallas, TX. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, David Lucius, Sr., and brother, John Ronald Coleman. Joyce is survived by her daughter Yolanda Carter (Herbert); sons David Lucius Jr., Domingo Lucius Sr., (Rebecca), Desiderio Lucius, and Dominic Lucius; sisters Rebecca Sneed (Kenneth) and Jacqueline Harris (Reginald);14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one uncle, Sylvester Coleman of Detroit, Michigan; special friend, Marvin Mosley; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, whom she loved and cherished dearly.
