KATIE OWENS

Katie Mae Duffey Owens was born on November 11, 1931 in Gilmer, Texas to the parentage of Mr. Jerry and Angelina Duffey. Katie was the youngest of seven children. On June 3, 1950, Katie Mae married Odell Owens and to this union four daughters and one son was born. Katie has been a resident of Dallas for 65 years and a member of East Gate Baptist Church since 1973. She was a faithful member of Usher Board #1 for several years. She is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Duffey; mother, Angeline Duffey; husband, Odell Owens; oldest daughter, Myrtis Owens Cox; only son, Lavoice Owens; granddaughter, Kawana Cox; and three great-grandsons. Katie Mae Duffey Owens leaves to cherish her memories three daughters Brenda Cheatum, Carolyn Evans (Pastor Olan) of Dallas, TX, and Thelma Smith (James) of Grand Prairie, Texas; one god-son, Ronald K. Redmond, Jr.; one god-daughter Deering Spencer (Freddie), ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends..
