God called his good and faithful servant, Pastor Kenneth G. Bolds, Sr. home on November 10, 2021. While heaven gained a dedicated and humble servant, the world lost a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, nephew, brother and pastor.
Pastor Bolds was born on May 17, 1964 in Dallas, Texas. His mother declared from her womb that he would be called to preach and do work for the Lord. He attended both scholastic and seminary schools in the Dallas metropolitan area.
After more than 10 years of working in management for Sam’s Club, Pastor Bolds went the entrepreneurial route and started the Bolds Towing Company. Additionally, he had a passion for barbeque and was well known for his fall off the bone ribs and elite smoked turkey legs. He founded O’ Taste and See BBQ, turning his passion into a business that has blessed so many. His commitment to his calling to shepherd God’s people led to him working in ministry full time.
While attending Zion Tabernacle Church in Dallas, TX, he met Debra, the love of his life. After a courtship of eight years, they wed on July 21, 1984. The love that Pastor Bolds shared for Debra was great and he never missed an opportunity to openly acknowledge his love for her throughout their 37 year marriage. Out of this union, they were blessed with an amazing daughter and son, Kimberly and Kenneth.
Pastor Bolds accepted Christ into his life as youth. He accepted his call to preach shortly thereafter. He began preaching God’s word in his teenage years. Although he began preaching early on, he has worked effectively in other areas of the church body. This included being an ordained deacon, a youth leader and counselor, church trustee, assistant pastor, associate pastor, church administrator and served as either a leader or member of many church auxiliaries.
Adhering to his call to preach, Pastor Bolds was officially ordained into the ministry in 1987. He served under the apprenticeship of Pastor J.B. Armstrong of the Solomon Temple Church of Dallas, TX as Assistant Pastor. Afterwards, he served as Assistant Pastor under the leadership of Rev. E.R. Radford of the Wayside Baptist Church of Seagoville, TX. He later served as an Associate Minister of the New Life Church of God in Christ in Lancaster, TX under the leadership of Elder Don A. Burch, Sr.
In the summer of 1999, Pastor Bolds founded Unity Fellowship Church in Dallas, Texas. On October 6, 2001, Unity Fellowship Church merged with True Christ Missionary Baptist Church of Lancaster, Texas and became True Christ Unity Fellowship Church. Pastor Bolds was inducted as Senior Pastor of True Christ Unity Fellowship Church on January 1, 2002 and served in this capacity until God called him home.
He was preceded in death by his loving and beloved mother Ida Mae Bolds. He was also preceded in death by both his spiritual mentors maternal grandmother, Lena B. Sneed and father, Levell Leonard.
Those that are left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Debra, Mesquite, TX; his two children, Kimberly Jackson of Mesquite, TX and Kenneth Bolds, Jr, of Mesquite, TX; his grandchildren, Kendrick Coleman, Elijah Bolds, Noah Bolds and Deshane Coleman, all of Mesquite, TX; great grandson, Cason Coleman of Mesquite, TX; his brothers, Rickey Bolds of Mesquite, TX, Marvin Bolds of Garland, TX, Robert Bolds (Keteina) of Dallas, TX; sister, Marsha Bolds Scott (Timothy) of Forney, TX; mother-in-law Vera Stephens of Dallas, TX; brothers-in-law, Clifford Jackson (Linda) of Dallas, TX, Aubrey Jackson (Myra) of Dallas, TX; sisters-in-law, Jeannete Ellis of Dallas,TX, and Sandra K.
