LARCILE JOHNSON

Mrs. Larcile Johnson, age 80, of Dallas, Texas passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Larcile was born on October 3, 1939 in Calvert, Texas to Clandis and Margaret Salter who both preceded her in death. She grew up in Calvert and attended school at Evergreen and Bethlehem in Hammond, Texas before attending Mart High School in Mart, Texas. She met and married her husband, Johnnie B. Johnson, on February 5, 1959. They enjoyed over 60 years of wonderful marriage together.

Larcile professed Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in Bremond, Texas. After moving to Dallas in October 1959, she united with Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. C.C. Cheatom. In 1970, she united with Morning Star Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. U.L. Wiley until 1985 when she united with Gethsemane Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Larry Graves. In 2008, she then united with Gilgal Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C.D. Hanes where she remained a faithful and devoted member, Sunday school teacher, and Mother of the Church until going to be with the Lord.

She was always known as a woman of strong faith and loyalty. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Psalms 121, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” With these strong beliefs, she taught her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and others the ways of the Lord.

Larcile was employed as a housekeeper, then as a jewelry checker at Zales for over 15 years before retiring in the early 2000s. She was so loved for her cooking and baking and showed love to anyone and everyone who stopped by and sat at her table for ‘Sunday Dinner.’

Larcile is survived by her husband, Johnnie B. Johnson; four children Brenda F. Talton (husband Anthony), Johnnie B. Johnson Jr. (wife Angelette), Michael W. Johnson,  Cheryl A. Conner (husband Danny); eight grandchildren Darrin Talton (wife LaTayo), LaChasity Newman (husband Jason), Joshua Johnson, LaPorcha Conner, Jasmine Talton, Tavia Talton, Johnnie B. Johnson III, Nicholas Lewis and one grandson, Kendric Jones who preceded her in death.

She is also survived by her sisters Tibertha Moore, Hazel Franklin, Addie Jones, Clara Holt, Mary Sims; brother Robert Lee Salter; sister-in-laws Jimmie Bowers, Ruby Brown, Gloria Johnson, Doris Salter; brother-in-laws Lonnie Johnson, James Odell Jones, Fred Sims; plus eight great grandchildren and her many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends whom she loved and touched deeply.
