Leslie Mae Logan Battle was born June 18, 1932 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Leslie Logan and Alma Wright Logan. On Friday, November 1, 2019, she transitioned into eternal rest. At an early age, Leslie Mae moved to Seminole, Oklahoma with her parents. She attended Booker T. Washington, Seminole, Oklahoma, grades one through twelve. During her senior year, she was crowned Miss Booker T. Washington. She continued her studies in Home Economics at Langston University, Langston, Oklahoma.
As a young adult in Seminole, Leslie Mae was baptized and became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Many years later she united with the First Assembly of God Church, Seminole. As a teenager growing up in Seminole, Leslie Mae was the pianist at a Methodist Church, and years later her son, Terry, also played there. After moving to Dallas, Texas she joined the Adams Chapel A.M.E. Church.
On June 5, 1950 Leslie Mae married McCoy Battle and together they shared this union for 43 years until his death on December 3, 1993. After twenty-two years of employment, Leslie Mae retired as a civilian flight records clerk, Tinker Air Force Base, Midwest City, Oklahoma. The flight records for Air Force One were part of her record keeping responsibilities, which allowed her the opportunity to see many of the Presidents of the United States who flew in on Air Force One. Through her daily Christian walk, Leslie Mae cared for her parents, her in-laws, and the elderly in the community. Last but certainly not least, Leslie Mae loved people. She really enjoyed shopping, cooking reading and traveling.
