LINDA CASTEEL

May 31, 1951 — April 11, 2025

She carried more than most could bear,

With quiet strength and loving care.

Through every loss, she stood so tall,

A mother’s love—she gave it all.

Now peace has found her gentle soul,

No more to carry, no more toll.

And in the sky, a soft, warm glow—

She’s with her children, all in tow.

Linda (Jones) Casteel, born May 31, 1951, passed away on April 11, 2025, in Dallas, Texas.

She will be remembered for her love of poetry, ceramics, her ability to make lifelong friends out of complete strangers, and her joy in sharing laughter—especially through the memes/GIFS she posted online. As a single mother, she spent decades working long hours at National Semiconductor, where she not only built a career but also created a family among her colleagues. At home and at work, Linda led with devotion, generosity, and a strength that spoke louder than words.

Linda gave her all without ever asking for much in return—a steady presence, a guiding hand, and a heart that never stopped giving. Her love shaped the lives of those around her, and the care she so freely offered will remain with us always.

While we will miss her deeply, we find peace in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved children, James Casteel II and Kaila Casteel, as well as her parents, Luther and Alma (Hightower) Jones, her sisters Annie Ruth Lacy and Vanessa Dale Broussard, and her brother Luther Jones Jr.—along with the many loved ones she lost along the way.

Linda is survived by her daughter Shaterri Casteel; sisters Annie Lee Pittman (James) and Audrey Dones; granddaughters Semaj and Alex Casteel; daughter-in-law Stacy Casteel; goddaughter DeeDee Russell; and many others who called her friend, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and coworker.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who cared for her throughout the years. The kindness and love you shared with her have been truly appreciated and will never be forgotten.

There will be no formal viewing or funeral service at this time. The family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor her memory by doing something kind: visit with a friend or family member, write a note to someone dear, or take a day just to rest and care for yourself—just as she would have wanted.
