LOVIE GARCIA

February 2, 1950 — May 7, 2026

With a heart weighed down by grief yet lifted by cherished memories, we solemnly honor the life of Lovie Garcia, who graced this world from February 2, 1950, in Carthage, Texas, until her peaceful passing on May 7, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. She was a woman whose spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, embodying love, honesty, faith, and unwavering dedication.

Lovie’s journey was marked not only by her steadfast commitment to her career as a PBX operator at a hotel but by the warmth she radiated as a very good person—honest, giving, loving, and wholeheartedly committed to everything she undertook. She was more than just a worker; she was a beacon of kindness and a loving soul who brought joy and happiness wherever she went. Known for her welcoming spirit and faithfulness, Lovie was intensely devoted to the Lord, and her joyful nature made her not just a pleasure to be around, but a source of comfort and inspiration.

She was an extraordinary cook whose kitchen was a haven of love and delicious meals, nurturing not just bodies but hearts. Beyond her domestic artistry, Lovie was an enthusiastic collector, amassing a treasured array of antiques, furniture, and pictures, reflecting a deep appreciation for history and beauty. Her hobbies—the lively rounds of bingo, caring for her beloved cats and dogs, and the joy of cooking—were threads woven into the vibrant tapestry of her life.

At the core of Lovie’s pride were her children and the legacy of love she fostered within her family. She raised four children with resolute strength and grace, a testament to her commitment and dedication. Though she now rests beside those who have gone before her—her parents Jessie Alexander and Lizzie Galloway; her daughters Sharon Alexander and Tammy Alexander; and her brothers John Alexander and Joe Alexander, along with her sisters Ida, Nettie, and Emma—her love continues through the living members of her cherished family.

Lovie is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Efrain Garcia, and her cherished daughters, Teresa Washington (Andre) and Merlinder Halsell (Nathius). Her family extends further to embrace eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren—each a living tribute to her enduring love. She also leaves behind a beloved sister, Hazel Okoli, and a welcoming circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.

Her life was a melody of faith, love, and happy moments, a story enriched by laughter and the countless lives she touched. Though Lovie Garcia is no longer physically present, the gentle warmth of her smile, her unwavering honesty, and the generous love she poured into her family and community remain a guiding light. As we remember her today, we hold her legacy close, celebrating a truly remarkable woman who was as fun and pleasant as she was faithful and kind.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, embraced by the Lord she so dearly loved, and may the memories of Lovie Garcia forever inspire us to live with generosity, commitment, and an open heart.
