Lynette Bookman Lakes was born on September 20, 1966 to M.T. Bookman and Lillie Bookman in Dallas, Texas. She was born and raised in the Dallas Metro area where she remained throughout her adult life. Lynette came to know Christ at an early age, she joined First Baptist Church of Hamilton where she played the piano for Sunday School and ushered. During her early school years, she attended private school at Good Shepherd from K-8th grade, then attended Richardson High School graduating with the Class of 1984. After graduating, she attended Texas Women University where she obtained a degree in Fashion Design. Following her Fashion Design Degree, she worked in the Fashion Industry at Mervyn’s. During this time, she went back to college and obtained her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. She then started working at Caldwell Federal Bureau (1994); she left and started working at Federal Correctional Institution of Seagoville (2019). She worked in the Federal Correctional services for 26 years until her health failed. Lynette was very loving, caring, giving, and inquisitive. She was family oriented and loved researching the history of her family roots. Lynette was one of a kind, she loved taking pictures, and making crafts of any sort. Lynette met Lawrence (Larry) at a young age while attending church together and in 2003 they married. She was a faithful wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Sidney and Trudie Bookman, Lucious Marshall SR. and Hester Tasby-Marshall; father M.T. Bookman; brothers, Alfred Robinson, and Jerry Ballard; special cousin, Lillie Pearl Hartman (Granny).
Lynette leaves her husband, Lawrence (Larry), mother, Lillie Bookman of Dallas, TX; sibling, Gerry Ballard (Vickie) of Kilgore, Texas; special sister-in-law, Linda Ballard of Henderson.
