MADELONE JOHNSON

November 4, 1947 — January 14, 2021

Madelene Johnson born November 4 1947 to the parentage of Johnny Johnson and Martha Mae Moore Johnson. She was youngest daughter of 5 children. She attended Bruce High School in Gilmer Texas. She grew up in the church from an early age at Moses Chapel CME in Gilmer, Texas. Upon returning to Dallas became a member of Eastgate Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. H. D. Reagan. She later joined Inspiring Body Of Christ under Rev. Rickie Rush until her health failed her. She was a saved Christian and knew the Lord. She was married to John Arthur Johnson Jr for 27 years and resided in Pittsburg, Pa., until moving back to Texas in 1979. She worked as a teller for Bank America (formerly Republic Bank) for several years. She then became a correctional officer for Dawson State Jail until retirement. She also was a top regional seller for Home Interior and Avon. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved all of her family and always had a kind word. She loved crafts, decorating, making baskets, plants and was a creative entrepreneur. Always displaying a beautiful smile where ever she went; now how could you not resist buying something from her. For those that were fortunate to get them, loved the homemade fried apple pies and hot water cornbread. She was preceded in death by her parents Johnny Johnson and Martha Mae Johnson, grandparents Alford and Mattie Moore, grand-daughter Keitha Johnson, brother Willie Curry Jr., brother Jimmy Johnson, sister Hattie Skinner, brother-in-law Chester Skinner. She leaves to cherish: son Keithen O'Neal Johnson, grandson Curtis Cooper Sr., great­ grandchildren Deshamian Johnson, Curtisha Johnson, Curtis Cooper Jr. brother Johnny Johnson, sister-in laws Wilma Cµrry, Dejie Johnson and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
