MAE HENDERSON

February 25, 1937 — April 30, 2020

Mae Evelyn Henderson was the third child born to Ethel and Johnny Moore on February 25, 1937 in Dallas, TX. She departed this life on Thursday, April 30, 2020 in Dallas, TX.

Mae Evelyn attended N. W. Harlee Elementary School and Lincoln High School of Dallas, TX. Her place of employment was Parkland Memorial Hospital for over 30 years as a Nurse’s Aide. She was a sweet and loving child of God. She was very tender-hearted and kind to everyone. She loved serving and doing for others.  She was well known for her famous colored punch, bright ideals and birthday pennies to family members (a penny for each year).

She met and married the soulmate and love of her life, James A. Henderson in 1970.

She was a member of Jordan M.B.C. under the leadership of Rev. R. M. Robertson, where she served as a member of the Missionary Auxiliary as well as other Departments in the church. She later moved her membership to New Horizon Bible Believers Tabernacle under the leadership of Pastor Oliver S. Summons. At the time of her demise, she was a member of the Living Sacrifice of Praise Church under the leadership of Pastors Walter and Doris Scott.

She was preceded in death by: her mother and father; a sister, Eula Faye Fields; and a son, Norman Karl Moore.

She leaves to cherish her special memories: Her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, James Henderson; three sons, Melvin Moore (Vincentia) of Houston, TX, Chris Brown (Joanne) of Cridersville, OH and Keith Brown (Terah) of Dallas; one daughter, Melba Stephen of Dallas; nine grandchildren; sixteen greatgrandchildren;  one great-greatgrandchild; two sisters, Mildred Watson and Gail Winn (Arthur), one brother Kenneth Moore, all of Dallas, TX; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

A special appreciation to her caregiver/granddaughter, LaTonya Stephen; for all of the love, kindness and attention given to her Sweet Granny.
