Maresilda Castillo, born on May 7, 1961, in San Angelo, Texas, passed away on August 27, 2026, in Arlington, Texas.
Mardie will be remembered as a woman of great spirit, warmth, and strength. The oldest child in her family, she carried herself with a presence that was funny, outspoken, and very blunt, while also being strict in the loving way that guided and protected those around her. She was a mom to everyone, deeply caring and always attentive to the needs of others. Family meant everything to her, and she especially cherished her siblings.
She built a life marked by hard work and talent, serving as a seamstress and translator. Her gifts were not only practical, but deeply personal. She loved to sew and crochet, creating with her hands in ways that reflected both care and creativity. In the kitchen, she was known as the best cook, especially for her Mexican food and her tortillas, which brought comfort, joy, and togetherness to those lucky enough to gather at her table.
Mardie brought energy and celebration wherever she went. She loved holidays, going to the movies, and dancing cumbias. She was known for hosting unforgettable parties and for living with a joyful, lively spirit that made every gathering brighter. Time spent going to the movies with her became a treasured memory, as did the laughter, music, and warmth she shared so freely.
Among all the blessings of her life, her proudest accomplishment was her children. They were the center of her heart and one of the clearest expressions of the love, devotion, and strength that defined her life.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Mardie during visitation on September 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, 4155 S. R. L. Burial will follow at Mountain Creek Cemetery, 2099 Hardy Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75051.
