Mario Campos Olivarez Sr.
January 19, 1953 - August 16th. 2026
Mario Campos Olivarez, age 73, a resident of Fate, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Mario was the fifth of twelve children born to Joe and Dora Olivarez. He grew up in a large, lively, and deeply connected family, sharing his life with siblings Armida O. Closser (predeceased), Martha Maddox, Joe R. Olivarez, David Olivarez (predeceased), Tony C. Olivarez, Carlos C. Olivarez, Reynalda O. Bodnar (predeceased), Alfred C. Olivarez, Richard C Olivarez, Estefan Olivarez (predeceased), and Rene Olivarez (predeceased). Mario also cherished the many brothers‑in‑law and sisters‑in‑law who became part of the family over the years.
Mario graduated from San Fernando High School in 1973. Soon after, he made the proud and courageous decision to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with honor and returning home as a Vietnam Veteran. His service shaped his strength, discipline, and deep sense of responsibility qualities he carried throughout his life.
Mario became a father for the first time with his childhood love, Kathleen Fisher, welcoming his eldest daughter Christina Olivarez‑Morales. Christina later married David Morales, residing in Josephine, Texas, and giving Mario three grandchildren: Nicolas Morales, Natalie Morales, and Nathaniel Morales.
Mario then met and married Theresa Romero, and together they welcomed five daughters. Olivia Olivarez, residing in Green Bay, WI, mother to Cheyenne, Christian, Ambresia, and Elijah Olivarez. Who were apart of one of Mario's proudest moments supporting all four of them being baptized into the Catholic Church.
Brandi Olivarez‑Demery, residing in Josephine, TX, who first made Mario a grandfather. Brandi married Marcell Garvin III, having Denice Garvin‑Mojica and Eual Olivarez‑Garvin, and later married Anthony Demery, welcoming Mario’s birthday twin Meliyah Demery and Sanaa Demery.
Marisa “Mo” Olivarez, residing in Storm Lake, IA, who made her father proud as the first business owner in the family and embraced the role of the fun, supportive aunt to all nieces and nephews. Who always showed up when her "Daddy" called.
Harmoni Olivarez, residing in Green Bay, WI, who met Mark Berendsen and welcomed Oleana Olivarez‑Berendsen. Mario treasured the time he spent with Oleana and Caleb in Wisconsin, enrolling them in Catholic school and keeping bedrooms ready for cousin visits.
Honisti Olivarez‑Grajeda, residing in Green Bay, WI, who married Carlos Grajeda and gave Mario his largest group of grandchildren: Dora Grajeda, Dalia Grajeda, twins Mariana and Iyana Grajeda, Juan, and Efrain Grajeda. Their move to Wisconsin inspired many siblings and Mario himself to follow. He loved the cold weather and took great pride in sharing his Catholic faith with his grandchildren, supporting them all in being baptized together.
Mario’s first and only son, Mario Campos Olivarez Jr., was born from his marriage to Jodine Trumble Olivarez (predeceased). Mario Jr. later welcomed children of his own: Mario Campos Olivarez III (Trey), Caleb Olivarez, Miryle Olivarez, Mason Olivarez, and Nevaeh Olivarez who Mario did not get the chance to meet before his passing.
Mario was also a proud great‑grandfather to 16, a milestone he celebrated with joy and gratitude.
Throughout his life, Mario was defined by devotion to his faith, his country, and above all, his family. He carried immense pride in his children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments, guiding them with his wisdom, and loving them with unwavering loyalty. His legacy lives on in the generations he shaped, the traditions he passed down, and the countless memories he created.
Mario will be remembered for his strength, humor, faith, and the deep love he poured into every branch of his family tree.
