MARY HELEN WASHINGTON

March 31, 1961 — March 6, 2026

Mary Helen Washington, affectionately known to all as “Mae,” transitioned from this life on March 6, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. Born in Garland on March 31, 1961, Mae dedicated her life to the joy of her family and the warmth of her home.

In her earlier years, Mae followed a profound calling to serve others as a CNA and caregiver. She extended her compassionate heart far beyond her own front door, providing comfort, strength, and dignity to those in their most vulnerable moments. This same spirit of service defined her life as a devoted wife and homemaker. For Mae, caring for her family wasn't just a duty; it was her greatest joy.

She was happiest in her kitchen, where she expressed her deepest love through the meals she prepared for those she held dear. When the day slowed down, Mae found simple pleasures in the things she loved: the familiar drama of her daytime soap operas, the quiet challenge of a crossword puzzle, and the soul-stirring rhythm of her favorite music.

Each of her loved ones carries a piece of her spirit—a spirit of service, a legacy of flavor, and a wealth of love that will forever resonate through their stories, her favorite songs, and the many memories created around her table.

Preceded in death by: husband: Charlie D. Washington; parents: Robert Jackson Sr. and Ella Faye Jackson; siblings: Robert Jackson Jr. and Linda Jackson; son: Joe Lee Jackson.

Left to Cherish her Memory: children: Brandy Jackson, Brandon Jackson, and Mondell Washington; grandchildren: Dnetrick, Anasia, DeMory'ae, Arron, Brandon Jr and Mason Joe; brothers: Terry Jackson (Jackie) and Milton Jackson (Kathy); extended family: A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a community of close friends who were like family.

Even though she is no longer with us, we know that she is in a better place where she won’t have to deal with sickness anymore. And even though we are grieving, we don’t grieve as those who have no hope. Because of our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we don’t question His Plan, but we ask Him to strengthen us as we deal with her absence. We know that she is not alone, because of the number of family and friends who have gone on before her. We look forward to seeing her again, but until then we will cherish the time that we shared while she was here with us. The Bible reminds us, “To be absent from the Body is to be present with the Lord.
