MARY LOIS MAYES

Mary Lois Mayes, a beloved chef and cherished member of her community, passed away on December 26, 2024, in her hometown of Dallas, Texas. She was born on June 23, 1930, in Dallas, where she would later establish herself as a culinary artist known for both her skill in the kitchen and her warm, welcoming spirit.

A proud graduate of St. Peter's Catholic School, Mary exemplified the values of dedication and compassion throughout her life. She was a simple woman who took pride in her appearance and carried herself with elegance. Her unwavering faith in God guided her through life, and she was known as a God-fearing woman who instilled those same values in her family.

Mary's career as a chef allowed her to share her love of food with many, crafting meals that brought family and friends together. Her kitchen was a sanctuary of creativity and comfort, where laughter and love were always present alongside the delightful aromas of her cooking.

Mary leaves behind her daughters, Brenda Curry, Patsy Cotton, Howard Mayes, Sharon Mayes- Spencer, Felicia Mayes-Jones,  who remember her fondly as a source of strength and inspiration. The love she shared with her family will be a guiding light, continuing to influence their lives long after her passing.

Family, friends, and members of the community are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on January 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas. A funeral service honoring her life will be held on January 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Greater Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church, also in Dallas.

Mary Lois Mayes will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for the joy she brought into many lives and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
