MICHAEL LEMON ROBINSON

August 31, 1966 — December 26, 2025

MICHAEL LE’MON ROBINSON, a dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and coach, passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on August 31, 1966, Michael accepted Christ at an early age, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and leadership. Michael's life was marked by an unwavering passion for athletics and a profound commitment to nurturing young talent.

Throughout his illustrious coaching career, Michael left an incredible mark on the communities he served. His spark and gift of coaching began at a young age. He began his coaching career at the Gainesville Boys and Girls Club, where he inspired countless youth to discover their potential both on and off the field and court. His dedication continued as an assistant coach at Gainesville Middle/High School, Denton High School, Commerce High School, and Lancaster High School.

Michael was married on July 11, 1998 to Angela Loraine Smith in Commerce, TX. While building a beautiful family he continued his coaching career. He was an assistant coach on the

1999 Commerce Tigers High School football team that won the Texas UIL Class 3A Division II State Championship. From 2000-2005 he was athletic director and head football coach at Wilmer-Hutchins High School. In 2006, he served as the campus athletic coordinator and head football coach at Hillcrest High School in North Dallas, and in 2007, he joined North Mesquite High School as campus athletic coordinator and head football coach. In 2018, Michael became the head football coach for DeSoto ISD.

He walked the sideline for 30 years, 18 years as a Head Coach, a testament to his coaching prowess and ability to motivate athletes to achieve excellence. Michael's legacy is felt not only through the victories he achieved but also through the lives he touched and the values he instilled in his players and students. He embodied the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and integrity, making a positive impact on everyone he encountered.

As a dedicated leader both on and off the field, he balanced his passion for coaching with a deep sense of devotion to those he loved most. As the cornerstone of his family, he was the master planner of our annual vacation adventures. An avid fisherman, in his free time he could often be found enjoying the peace of Shelton’s or Tom Parker’s ponds.

Michael Le’Mon Robinson will be lovingly remembered for his dedication to his family, passion for coaching, and the countless lives he enriched through his tireless work and encouragement. Coach Rob will be remembered for his unique approach to the game.

As those who knew him often said, he wasn’t in the football business, he was in the people business. He used the sport as a tool to invest in everyone he met, teaching lessons of grace and humility that extended far beyond the field. His spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Michael is survived by his wife of 27 years, Angela Robinson; his three children, Mackenzie DeAllison, Peyton Loraine, and Alexander Hubbard Robinson; his parents, Leonard Robinson and Billie Watson; and his sisters, Lynene Miles, Danika Koenig (and husband Joe), CeAnn Robinson (and partner Ryan), and Jessica Robinson. He is also survived by aunts Evelyn Stone, Donna Hubbard, and Cecilia Strong; uncle Ronald Hubbard; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Billie D. and Minnie O. Hubbard and Pastoria Strong; aunts, Rita Hubbard, Candy Hubbard and Marilyn Robinson; and uncle, Larry Hubbard.
