MILTON LEWIS BUSSEY, age 71, went to glory on January 2, 2019. Milton Bussey was born May 5, 1947 in Bobo, Texas (Shelby County) to Mr. Sam Milton Bussey Jr. and Mrs. Ruth Ola Hollis.
Milton graduated from L.G. Pinkston High School in 1965. During his time at Pinkston he played football (number 84) and was a beloved classmate. He went on to play semi-professional football with the Outlaws for 7 years. He married his wife Cheryle on May 15, 2003 and remained married to her until his demise.
Twenty-eight years ago Milton and Cheryle founded MJ & A Trucking. Having grown up working at Bussey Trucking which was owned and operated by his parents, he was a natural at running his own business. He took pride in a hard day's work and was known for keeping a clean truck. After joining Antioch Fellowship Church in 2009, he became an Armor Bearer.
Milton took the same pride and work ethic to being an Armor Bearer, where he worked with the nursey and became a comforting face for parents checking their children into the nursey. The commitment and love he showed was returned to him by the many children who drew him pictures, saved their snacks for him, and filled his mornings with smiles and hugs.
Milton was preceded by brother, Larry Bussey (1978) and his parents, Sam Milton Bussey Jr. (2011) and Ruth Ola Hollis Bussey (2018). Survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Bussey; step-daughter, Jerilyn (Ryan) Reed; sisters, Beverly (Joseph) Gipson and Ladine (Willie) Gathright; brother, Anthony (Levon) Bussey; nieces, Stephaney Gipson (Michael) Lafears Jr., Tiffaney Bussey, Jasmine Bussey, Gioia (Aaron) Bufkin, and Carmen Washington; uncle, Warren Bussey of Santa Ana, CA; aunt Tilda Mae Bussey Holmon of Hughes, AR; and his children. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
