NORLYN POTTS, known as "PUG", a beloved family man and dedicated professional, passed away on July 29, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on March 18, 1948, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Norlyn was defined by his love for his family and his commitment to his work as a merchandiser for Borden's Milk Company for 40 years.
Norlyn served his country with honor in the US Army for two years from 1968 to 1970. He was a proud veteran who embraced life with a spirit of dedication. His education was began Lawton, where he attended Dunbar Elementary School and Douglass High School. He later earned his associate's degree from El Centro College, Dallas, TX.
Known for his loving and patient nature, Norlyn held a heart that was both big and kind. Friends and family will remember him not only for his strength and knowledge but also for his humor and passion in all that he did. He found joy in simple pleasures such as sitting on his front porch playing solitaire and other games. He could also be found in front of the tv watching his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Norlyn was proud of his family. He cherished his role as a husband to Lynn Potts, as well as being father to his children Lonnetta Brandly and Norlyn "PJ" Potts, Jr. Norlyn found joy in his three grandchildren, Lalynn Taylor, Jerome Kee, and Londyn Potts and his five great-grandchildren: Shalynn Cooper, Sa'Nya Cooper, Joslynn King, Jesiah Jerome Kee, and Jeremiah Jermaine Kee. He held a special place in his heart for his godchildren, Dwight Greer, Sharon Taylor, and William Smith.
Services to honor Norlyn will be held at the following locations: a Prayer Service at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas on August 8, 2025, starting at 6:00 PM, and a Funeral Service at Greater New Zion Baptist Church 2210 Pine Street, Dallas, TX 75215 on August 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
As friends and family gather to remember Norlyn “Pug” Potts, they will celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and an everlasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His memory will remain a guiding light in the lives of all he touched.
