Mr. Obie Kinnard Houston lovingly called "Shanky", son of the late Obie Houston of Fort Worth and mother Mrs. Donnie Brooks Houston was born May 22, 1965 in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Fort Worth public schools and was a graduate of Green B. Trimble Technical High School class of 1983. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Strangers Rest Missionary Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member.
"Shanky" lived his best life until he quietly departed this life on Friday, July 19, 2019 at a local hospital surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his father Obie Houston, his grandfather the late great Reverend A.A. Brooks and grandmother Elizabeth "Sunshine" Brooks and uncle Alfred Brooks.
His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his mother: Donnie Brooks Houston; brothers, Marshall Batts (Lisa), Davis Batts and Brian (Pam); sisters, Vernessa Batts (Marvin) and Sharon (Terry); uncles, John (Shirley) and Hilton; aunt, Della Brooks; nieces and nephews Charla (Marcus), Desmond (Takeitha), Joe (Winnetta), Lethuy, Keondra (Bert), David Jr., Sharon, Tiffany, Armond, Jermaine, and Kenneth and Angela Faulkner of Loudon Tennessee; special cousins John Jr., Kevin, Monette, Marion aka "Big"; special friends, Tia and Big Steve. In addition to a host of loved ones and friends.
