Ophelia was well known for her work as a retired housekeeper for Everman Independent School District, where she touched the lives of many students and staff with her warmth and diligence. Beyond her professional endeavors, Ophelia cherished her role as a Superintendent of the Sunday School Class at New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Her passion for sharing knowledge and values left an enduring impact on those she guided, reflecting her strong faith and commitment to her community.
In her leisure time, Ophelia found joy in planting flowers and engaging in yard work, activities that brought her closer to nature and allowed her to express her nurturing spirit. She cultivated not just a garden, but also relationships with those around her, fostering a sense of belonging and love.
Ophelia’s legacy will be celebrated during memorial services held at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas. A wake will take place on September 12, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church on September 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
Her passing marks the end of an era and leaves a void in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Ophelia Harkey's spirit and dedication to her faith and community will live on in the memories of all who loved her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
