ORA WILLIAMS

January 22, 1934 — February 25, 2021

Ora Ruth Williams, better known as Ruth Williams, the youngest child of the late James Pitts and Eula Johnson Pitts, was born January 22, 1934 in Mexia, Texas. She was raised in a strong Christian home and church environment. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Mexia, Texas. Ruth graduated from Dunbar High School in 1951. She entered Samuel Huston College in Austin, Texas now known as Huston-Tillotson University with her two best friends from childhood, Betty Price and Rubia Echols. Ruth married her college sweetheart, Rudy Vallee Williams of Abilene, Texas on June 13, 1954. To this glorious union four children were born. Three sons and one daughter. Keith Wayne (Ann), Derwin Brandon (Simone), Cedric Lars (Angela), and Risha Elise. Ruth began her teaching career with the Lemesa School District in Lamesa, Texas and the Navajo Agency, Bureau of Indian Affairs in Ganado, Arizona. She pursued her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Arizona and was a public school teacher for 41 years. The Williams children have presented Ruth with ten grandchildren whom she loved and cherished dearly – Kristian Nicole King (Charles), twins Lauren Genevieve Williams and Lindsey Michelle Williams (their mother Veronne), Garrett Brandon Williams, Kyle Evan Williams, Chad Vale’ Williams (Nicole), Morgan Marie Williams, Taylor Ruth Williams, Erik Sebastian Kuhn, and Alissa Katharina Kuhn. She was also blessed with thirteen beautiful great-grandchildren. Ruth entered heaven triumphant on February 25, 2021 at Pleasant Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation. To carry on her legacy and cherish her loving memories she leaves four children, ten lovely grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as, a host of family and friends to celebrate her life as a devoted wife for 49 years, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and teacher. Ruth’s two older sisters preceded her in death, James Lee Caviness and Luverlyn Johnson.
