Patricia Fields Mays was born on March 12, 1954, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late George Fields and Velma Fields Bryson. She was the youngest of her sisters, Opal Fields and Irene Fields Kelly, and from an early age she carried a gentle spirit, a strong sense of faith, and a deep love for family.
Patricia was known for her unwavering devotion to those she loved and for the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. Her faith guided her, her compassion grounded her, and her integrity shaped the way she moved through the world. She believed in treating others with dignity and respect, and she lived those values daily.
Throughout her life, Patricia had a passion for education, community, and service. Through her work as a case manager and as an employee within the school district, she found meaningful ways to give back, offering guidance, encouragement, and support to those who needed it most. Her work was more than a profession—it was an extension of her heart and her desire to make a difference.
Patricia was the loving wife of Odie Lee Mays and the mother of Teressa Fields Wilson (Ernest Wilson Jr.) and Carlos Fields Sr. (Denise Fields) She was the grandmother of Nia Wilson, Payton Wilson, Carlos Fields Jr., Arhya Mack, Kaden Fields, August Fields and Madison Fields.
As we leave here today, let us carry Patricia’s love and laughter with us in our hearts and our memories. May the tears of grief water the flowers along the path of our new journey, and may her spirit walk beside us in every step forward. Even in our sorrow, may we find quiet beauty in remembering her, and peace in knowing her love remains.
MADISON LIGHT B.C.
