With hearts full of both sadness and gratitude, we remember the life of PAUL WAYNE WRIGHTEN, who passed away on August 12, 2026, in his hometown of Dallas, Texas, at the age of 56. Born on July 7, 1970, in Dallas, Paul was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence filled every room with warmth, laughter, and love.
From an early age, Paul’s infectious spirit was apparent to all who knew him. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and furthered his education at OU, proudly carrying forward the values and drive instilled in him by his family. Throughout his life, Paul personified optimism and energy—traits that endeared him to many and made him the undeniable life of every gathering.
Paul's love for football was more than just a pastime; it was a passion that he shared with friends and family alike, fostering bonds, igniting friendly rivalries, and teaching lessons in both joy and resilience. But beyond sports, Paul was especially known for his unrivaled sense of humor. Making people laugh came naturally to him—he could light up the gloomiest of days with his joke or smile, finding joy in uplifting others. His laughter echoed in the hearts of all who gathered around him, tangibly brightening the lives of those he loved.
His proudest accomplishment in life was his son, Anthony Jones. Paul’s deep devotion to his family was at the center of who he was, and nothing brought him greater pride than watching his loved ones grow and thrive. His role as a grandfather, lovingly known to Au'Bri Jones and Kenni Brown, was another cherished facet of his life. Their laughter and successes were his greatest rewards.
Paul’s family circle remains held together by love, even in his absence. He is survived by his devoted son Anthony Jones, cherished grandchildren Au'Bri Jones and Kenni Brown, caring daughter-in-law Mlagloria Williams, loving brothers Thomas Wrighten and Tony Wrighten, and beloved sisters Gloria Abercombie and Sheba Carter. Together, they will carry forward Paul’s legacy of warmth, humor, and unwavering support for one another.
Paul is preceded in death by his father Charles Abercombie, mother Willie Ruth Jones, and his beloved wife Linda Wrighten. Their memories remain part of the fabric of his story, a testament to the enduring bonds that transcend time.
As we say goodbye, we hold close the countless memories—of shared laughter, lively football games, and the countless small gestures of love and encouragement for which Paul will always be remembered. His was a life rich with meaning, marked by kindness, loyalty, and an indomitable zest for living that will inspire all who follow in his footsteps.
Though our loss is profound, the light Paul brought to our lives will never fade. May his spirit continue to guide us, reminding us to cherish every moment, to laugh freely, and to love deeply.
