Quetta Gonzales Brown Spruell was born December 25, 1936 in Palestine, Texas to Willie and Lau Tessie (Barrett) Brown in Anderson County. She was the first of eight children.
Quetta, who carried the nicknames of “Q” or “Buck”, accepted Christ into her life at an early age and united with Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Palestine, Texas. She attended Jerusalem, Providence, Lincoln, and graduated from A.M. Story High School in 1954. After graduating high school, Quetta attended Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas and later moved to Fort Worth, Texas. After moving to Fort Worth, she united with Saint James African Methodist Episcopal Church where she was a member for over 50 years and had previously served as an usher. Quetta had four children Yolanda, Adrian, Vincent and Tatsia, whom she shared with former spouse, Maurice Spruell.
Quetta served as a caretaker both within and outside of her home devoting herself to loved ones. She had pride in caring for others, and was a kindhearted person who was known for her sweet soul.
On Friday morning, December 17, 2021 the angel of silence came for Quetta as she departed from her earthly body. She is preceded in death by her parents: Willie F. and Lau Tessie Brown; Brothers: Nylon L. Brown and Clinnie V. Brown. She leaves to cherish her memories. Children: Yolanda (Chucky) Hawkins, Fort Worth, Texas; Adrian (Erika) Spruell, Denver, Colorado; Vincent (Adele) Spruell, Stockton, California; Tatsia Polk, Fort Worth , Texas. Brothers: Willie Wayne Brown, Palestine, Texas; Corenza (JoAnn) Brown, Hephzibah, Georgia; Clifford Brown, Palestine, Texas; Orlessa Brown, Katy, Texas. Sister: Jerry Wilson, Palestine, Texas. 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends that loved her dearly.
