RAFERRO JAMES ROGERS JR

Raferro James Rogers Jr., known lovingly to all as James, passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on February 15, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, James was a lifelong Dallasite whose smile and personality were contagious. He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went.

James grew up in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, where he attended Carter High School. He went on to work for PPG Glass Company until a back injury prevented him from continuing full-time work. Despite that setback, James never lost his warmth or his willingness to show up for the people he loved. Whether it was helping a friend move, running errands, or just hanging out, James was always there. He loved spending time with his cousins, getting into what you might call good trouble, and making sure everyone around him was smiling.

James had a deep love of sports, especially his beloved Dallas Cowboys, and that passion fueled an incredible gift for statistics. He could tell you who played in almost any football game dating back to Super Bowl I. He was a walking NFL stat tracker long before the word "analytics" was ever used in sports.

James was blessed, along with Omekia Roshun McGee, to bring two beautiful children into this world, twins, Jaylee and Jayden Rogers. The twins were the light of his life and James loved them dearly. He enjoyed spending time taking them places, teaching them about the joys of life, about sports and the importance of family.

James is survived by Jaylee and Jayden, his mother, Kay Hayes, and his brother, Billy Hayes Jr. (Terri) and life long friend Delton Mathonican. He was preceded in death by his father, Raferro James Rogers Sr., and Billy Hayes Sr.

As Scripture reminds us, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." May James now find that eternal rest and peace.
