A Time to be Born

Ralph David Floyd was born to the union of Jerry W. Floyd Jr. and Margarette Thompson- Floyd on March 06, 1948 in West Carroll Parish, Epps, Louisiana.

A Time to Live

Ralph Floyd's parents had 4 children Larry, Joyce and Jerrylyne. His parents divorced in 1952 and the children went to live with their grandparents, Jerry W. Floyd Sr. and Frances. Ralph attended Magnolia School in Pioneer, La.

At 18 years old he entered the Marine Corps where he served his country for four years. He was sent to 29 Palms in California for a period time. He later moved to Chicago to be with his sisters, Joyce and Jerry. Using his GI Bill he attended Harold Washington college.

After completing his freshman year he took advantage of a career opportunity in Rockford Illinois with his cousins. He was employed by Chrysler for four years and began his new life. In 1993 Ralph left Illinois to join family in Texas. He worked as security for Dallas County at Lew Sterrett Justice Center until he retired.

Ralph was very intellectual and would have lengthy conversations about politics, social issues, wildlife, and all things sports. Ralph was an avid sports fan. He would watch everything from golf to womens basketball. His favorite sports team was the Dallas Cowboys. It did not matter who they played or how successful they were there was always a philosophy on which personnel they should acquire and the best direction "our" organization should take.
