DALLAS

Reuben Lambert Scott, born February 26, 1948, in Teague, Texas, passed away on October 26, 2026, in Dallas, Texas.

He was baptized at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Teague, TX at an early age.

He will be remembered as a jovial, outgoing man whose joy filled a room and whose humor made him the life of the party at family gatherings. Reuben carried himself with a warm spirit and a natural ease with people, bringing laughter and lightness to those around him. He took pleasure in reading, watching documentary and nature shows, and working in the yard, finding meaning in both quiet interests and time shared with others.

Reuben served his country in the United States Navy. In his working life, he was an excellent auto body mechanic, known for his skill and the pride he brought to his craft. Among the accomplishments closest to his heart were his children and grandchildren, who stood as his greatest source of pride.

A twin, Reuben shared a special bond with his brother Robert E. Scott, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Scott and Joe Scott; by his brothers Horace O. Scott, known as Johnny, Rev. Billy Joe Scott, Arthur Riley Scott, known as Sonny, and Robert E. Scott, his twin; and by his sisters Mertha Scott Ransom, Maye Scott Carroll, and Shirley Scott Caddell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Gloria Scott, and their children, Reuben Scott, Jr. and Sheryl Jimmerson. He is also lovingly remembered by Sheryl Jimmerson’s children, Rishad Jimmerson, Jaleel Jimmerson, and Kia Jimmerson, whose lives formed part of the family legacy he treasured so deeply. Reuben is further survived by his sister Yvonne Scott Gillespie; his brother Henry Wayne Scott; his sister Debra Scott Housley; and his brother Tony Scott.

Reuben Lambert Scott will be remembered for his laughter, his lively presence, his devotion to family, and the joy he brought into ordinary days. His memory lives on in the family he loved, the stories they will continue to tell, and the enduring warmth of a life so fully felt.
