REYFUS MARTEL GAFFNEY

REYFUS MARTEL GAFFNEY, born on September 25, 1971, in Dallas, Texas, and departing this life on April 24, 2026, in the city of his birth, leaves behind a tapestry of memories rich with laughter, love, and an unyielding devotion to family. A proud member of the class of 1990, Reyfus’s journey was marked by his unique spirit—the jokester whose humor illuminated every room, whose caring heart embraced all who crossed his path.

Reyfus was a man of vibrant passions. His hands fought in the ring  as an amateur boxer, a testament to his strength and perseverance. Beyond the physical, his soul danced in the realms of animation and gaming, while his eyes reveled in the timeless thrill of classic movies—most notably the colossal majesty of Godzilla. In the kitchen, he was a creator, blending flavors with the same artistry he applied to collecting swords and knives, his treasured collection symbolizing both his precision and his love for the extraordinary.

Yet, it was his love for his family that formed the core of Reyfus’s existence. He was the beloved father to Joshua, Justin, and Layana Gaffney, and a cherished grandfather to eight precious grandchildren: Miracle, Maiyah, Aviannah, Zhuri, Elon, Jr., Saint, Jhourni, and Zola. Their laughter was his music, their lives his proudest accomplishment. Surrounding him was a devoted circle that included his mother, Laura Dawn; sister, Robin Gaffney; brothers Melvin Gaffney II (Sandra) and Jason Jackson (Nellie); and a generous family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous other relatives and friends who were fortunate to know his loving presence.

Reyfus walked alongside the memories of those who preceded him—his father Melvin Eugne Gaffney, and his grandparents Thomas and Martha Dawn, as well as John Henry Gaffney and Murline Morgan—whose legacies he carried forward with honor.

On May 2, 2026, from 3:00 PM, a funeral service will be held at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas-JOHN, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75224. This gathering will be a poignant farewell fitting the man who was funny, loving, and deeply caring—a man whose presence was as sharp as the blades he collected and as warm as his heartfelt embrace.

Reyfus Martel Gaffney’s story is etched in the smiles of his children and grandchildren, in the joyous spirit he shared with his family, and in every moment that bore witness to a life extraordinarily lived. His legacy endures — an enduring echo of love, laughter, and the eternal bonds of kinship.
