Richard Vernon Carter, Jr., 76, of DeSoto, Texas, passed away on October 23, 2025.
He was a man of formidable charm and intellect, gifted with a laugh that filled a room and a curiosity that spanned countless subjects. Richard lived with ambition and flair, pursuing ventures as an entrepreneur and fulfilling a dream as a self-published author. He found joy in a good golf game, a captivating book, the rhythm of a dance floor and a lively conversation. Known for his sharp style and impeccable taste in cologne, Richard loved life and had a presence that was memorable to all. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Vernon Carter, Sr. and Ruth L. Carter; his sister, Brenda Freeman; and his beloved daughters, Tomikia Robertson and LaTonya Pearson.
He is survived by his remaining daughters, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Greater New Zion Baptist Church, 2210 Pine Street, Dallas, Texas 75115. The viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The committal service will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 8100 Fireside Drive, Dallas, Texas 75217.
