ROBERT CURRY
June 10, 1955 – April 20, 2026
Born and raised in the heart of Dallas, Texas, Robert Curry lived a life marked by unwavering strength, quiet determination, and an unmistakable wit that left an indelible imprint on all who knew him. On April 20, 2026, Robert passed away in Dallas, leaving behind a legacy woven through family, resilience, and a rich tapestry of memories filled with his unique blend of humor and grit.
Robert’s story began in Dallas, where he graduated from L.G. Pinkston High School in 1973. A man both reserved and laid back, he carried himself with an ambition and drive that propelled him through life’s challenges. His straightforward nature was balanced by a tender, if unconventional, way of expressing love—he was fiercely family oriented and deeply committed to those closest to him.
Robert’s love for the outdoors captured his spirit—whether he was watching the Dallas Cowboys with an unshakable loyalty, enjoying a nice cold beverage or indulging in westerns and wrestling shows, he found comfort in simplicity and tradition. His mechanical inclination was yet another facet of his determined and resilient character, a reflection of the way he approached life itself: doing what needed to be done with precision and care.
Above all else, Robert's proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren, the beating heart of his existence. He embraced his role as a father to Teresa Lee (with Rodney Lee, Sr.), Michael Coleman (with Vishia Coleman), Dearon Coleman, and Rufus Coleman (with Rebecca), each a testament to his enduring dedication. His life partner and beloved companion, Bobbie Coleman, stood by his side through the years, a steadfast presence in the journey they shared. Grandchildren—Dominiqua Butler, Travion Randel, Keion'tay Coleman, and Rodney Lee, Jr.—carried forward the light Robert so proudly nurtured.
Robert’s familial roots ran deep; two brothers, Wayne Curry and Charles Curry, accompanied him on life’s path, upholding bonds forged in childhood and strengthened through the years. Though he leaves behind a loving circle of living family and friends, he also carries with him the memories of four siblings who preceded him in passing—Bernice, Brenda, Willie, and Hayley—whose spirits remain forever part of his story.
His legacy will be remembered vividly in gatherings and quiet moments alike, where laughter will echo his sense of humor, and resolve will hint at his relentless spirit. The viewing to honor Robert’s memory will be held on April 29, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. This will be followed by his funeral service on April 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM, also at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas-Allene.
Robert Curry was a man who walked his own path, a man whose love was both fierce and thoughtfully reserved, whose determination saw every task completed, and whose sharp humor brought light to the darkest days. In remembering him, we celebrate a life well-lived—one that spoke with quiet strength and left a lasting imprint on the hearts of those privileged to know him.
