Robert Lee Dorrough, Sr. was born May 31, 1940 in Mineola, Texas to late Homer Dorrough and the late Elmira Wickware Dorrough.
He was educated in the Dallas Public School System.
Robert Sr. met and married Mary E. Jones Dorrough on August 22, 1959. They were married for nearly 49 years until she preceded him in death in 2008. To this union four children were born.
He received Christ in 1968 at which time he united with Community Bible Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Ruben S. Conner Sr., where he served faithfully as a Deacon and an Elder.
Then in 1991, he and his late wife Mary, joined and moved their membership to Concord Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Dr. E. K. Bailey and later under Pastor Bryan Carter where he served faithfully in various ministries.
After years of employment with Affiliated Foods in Dallas, Texas he was later employed and retired after years of service from the Dallas Independent School District (D.I.S.D.) where he met and later married Jacqueline Reggans Dorrough on October 6, 2010. They were faithful members of Mount Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Leonard O. Leach until he passed away on December 20, 2020.
Robert Sr. was blessed with a kind, jovial spirit. He loved fishing, bowling, traveling, his Dallas Cowboys, his family and most Importantly the Lord and the Word of God. He enjoyed sharing the word of God with everyone and everywhere he went. He also enjoyed eating ice cream and watching movies with his grandkids.
With this in mind, he leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 10 years, Jacqueline Reggans Dorrough, three sons: Robert (Sharon Kay) L. Dorrough Jr. of Austin, Texas; Reverend Gregory (Essie) Dorrough of Little Elm, Texas; James (Dr. Mollie Dorrough) of Dallas Texas; one daughter Marian Dorrough of Carrollton, Texas; and one stepson, Alex (Tonya) Reggans of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He also leaves five grandchildren: Brandon Brittany, Taylor, Aundrea (Javien) and Simon. He is survived by his Two Brothers: Leon Dorrough of Dallas, Texas; Oliver (Yvette) Dorrough, Sr of Desoto Texas and one sister Ola Mae Martin of Dallas, Texas. He also leaves three great grandchildren: Ryleigh, Nyla and Carter, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
