ROBERT ROBERTSON

December 4, 1948 — April 19, 2020

Robert Earl Robertson, 71 of Dallas, Texas slipped away quietly in his sleep on Sunday, April 19, 2020. Robert was born in Dallas on December 4, 1948 to Henry and Annie Laura Robertson. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1968. He went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corps where he served until 1975. He was awarded The National Defense Service Medal for his meritorious service to the Marine Corps. His military service did not stop with his career in the Marine Corps. After he was honorably discharged, he went to work for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. He retired from the Dallas VA Medical Center in 2011 in Environmental Management Services.

Robert loved talking about the Lord and was a bible scholar. In fact, there was never a conversation he had where the Lord and Bible were not mentioned.  He was an avid lover of music, the arts, and culture. He was also philanthropic and made generous donations to his favorite charities that included STAND for Parkland Foundation and the North Texas Public Broadcasting Service - KERA TV.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Wahsaan Barnes (Cory) of Atlanta, Georgia and two sisters Myrtle Gause (Cowboy) and Doris Williams (Timmy ) both of Dallas, Texas and a host of other relatives that includes nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and friends.

Robert is preceded in death by Henry and Annie Laura Robertson (parents), Louis Charles Crosby (stepfather), Henry Etta Moss (sister), Laura Reese Finley (sister), Arteia Robertson (sister), Melodie Robertson (sister).
