RODNEY EDWARD DAWSON

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Rodney Edward "Two Tone" Dawson, who departed this life on July 18, 2026, in Irving, Texas. Born on December 25, 1958, in Dallas, Texas. Rodney’s journey began on a day filled with hope and warmth, themes that would come to define the fabric of his life.

Known lovingly as “Two Tone” to those who knew him best, Rodney’s vibrant spirit left a mark on all whose paths he crossed. He was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and above all, a friend whose loyalty and compassion were unwavering. His laughter filled rooms, his kindness lifted spirits, and his wisdom was freely given to those who sought it.

Rodney’s family was at the very heart of his being. He is survived by his beloved son, Rodney Dawson II, (JerTerria: daughter-in-law), and his devoted daughter, Brianna Dawson, each of whom carry forward his legacy of resilience and grace. The joy of his life, his grandchild, Rodney Dawson III, brought an added brightness to his days and kindled in him a gentle pride that shone through every conversation.

Rodney’s love story is a testament to abiding companionship, cherished by his ex-spouse Sabrina Dawson, whose love and support were ever present by his side. He leaves behind his mother, Bernice Bell, (me and you, baby) whose nurturing presence shaped the person he became, and his sisters Brenda Harris, Carolyn Dawson, Sharon Jones (Juan), and Felicia Kennedy, each of whom shared a bond of sibling love and shared memories that will live on in their hearts.

He was predeceased by his father, Jesse H. Dawson, whose values and guidance helped mold Rodney into the man admired by so many, and his brother, Van Dawson, whose spirit now welcomes him.

The circle of Rodney’s family extends to beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all touched by his warmth and sincerity. He was the anchor at every gathering, a trusted confidant, and a source of unwavering encouragement.

Rodney lived each day with an authenticity and heart that inspired those around him. His roots in Dallas ran deep, but it was the connections he made and nurtured, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave that will remain his true legacy.
