ROMANEEK MCCLAIN "ROME"

April 29, 1970 — April 7, 2026

With profound sorrow and a heart heavy with remembrance, we commemorate the life of Romaneek McClain, a formidable spirit born on April 29, 1970, in Dallas, TX, who departed this world on April 7, 2026, in her beloved hometown. Romaneek lived a life marked by fearless honesty, a sharp wit tempered by wisdom, and a no-nonsense approach that defined her very essence. Her presence was a beacon of strength and warmth—outspoken and blunt, yet deeply caring and fiercely family-oriented—an intricate mosaic of toughness and tenderness.

Romaneek’s journey began in Dallas and found its early chapters shaped within the halls of McClymonds High School in Oakland, CA, where the seeds of her resilient character were sown. A devoted security guard by profession, she embraced her calling with unwavering dedication, embodying the traits of a true go-getter and workaholic. Her straightforwardness was legendary; she was easy to get along with and someone you could count on, until the wrong button was pressed—a testament to her fierce authenticity.

Her love extended far beyond her work. She found solace and joy in reading, the soulful melodies of Al Green’s music filling the air, and in the simple pleasure of playing cards—hobbies that nourished her spirit and connected her to moments of reflection and camaraderie.

Yet, above all else, Romaneek’s proudest accomplishment was her children. The cornerstone of her life, her family grew in her embrace. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Earl Sampson; her daughters Monique Sampson, Carmilla McClain, and Andrea McClain; her son Justin Sampson; and her brother Malcolm Hawkins. The generations that follow her footsteps bear her indelible mark: grandchildren Adrianna Sampson, Anniyah King, Jaeson Sampson, Ariana McClain, Andre Sampson, and Kyntrell Williams. Alongside them stand a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other cherished relatives and friends who carry fragments of her spirit in their hearts.

Romaneek’s legacy, however, also carries the poignant weight of loss. She joins in eternal rest her father, Carl Hawkins; her mother, Carolyn McClain; her sister, Roslyn McClain; and her beloved grandson, Jalen Sampson—souls whose memory she held close throughout her life.

The community will gather to honor Romaneek’s life with a viewing on April 28, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX. Her funeral service will follow the next day, April 29, 2026, from 3:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas-Allene, the same address bearing witness to the farewell of a woman who stood unyielding in her truths and unshakable in her love.

In remembering Romaneek McClain, we hold fast to her straightforwardness—a sterling trait that rippled through all she touched—and we celebrate a soul whose blend of candor, care, and wit left an indelible imprint on those privileged to know her. Her story is one of resilience, love, and an unbreakable commitment to family; a narrative that will echo in our hearts for generations to come.
