Ruth Adkins Hillary was born July 6, 1938 to the parentage of Alice Baty Adkins and Harrison Adkins in Teague, Texas.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Dew, Texas and later joined New Mt. Zion in Wilmer,Texas. For the last 8 years, she’s been a faithful member of the New Beginning Bible Fellowship Church under the leadership of Bishop Patrick D. Parker Sr.
She attended school in Teague Texas, Booker T. Washington School. She was a security officer for D & L security for many years and retired to take care of her husband Herman Lee Hillary Sr. whom she was married to for 37 years and precedes her in death.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Alice Adkins, her son, Ray Anthony Adkins, two stepsons, Ray Hillary and Herman Hillary Jr., one step daughter, Linda Bradley, three brothers, William (Son), Wallace, and James Adkins , eight sisters, Velva Adkins, Celestine Hill, Earlene Carter, Arletha Dunbar, Burdia Mae Smith, Alma Joyce Heart, Lovie Faye Hall, and Lillie Pearl Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Eulanda Adkins; two sons, Kenneth Adkins Sr. (Lesa), Derek Adkins (Darlene); seven stepchildren, Mary Jo Ragsdale, Joann Hillary, Ethel Washington (Billy), George Hillary, Alfonso Bluitt (Lucille), Beverly and Tamera Redic, one sister, LaDell Daniels; ten grandchildren, Shown, Sharhonda, Kenneth Jr., Dwayne, Shaquita, Inisha, Angel, Lakendrick, Harrison, and Breanna; seventeen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
