RUTHIE MARIE WILKS

October 12, 1939 — May 13, 2024

Ruthie Marie Bass Wilks was born October 12, 1939 in Trawick, Texas to the parents of Elisha (Lige) Bass and Annie Lee Esco (Percy) Bass. She was the fourth of eight children born to this union.

Ruthie received her formal education in Trawick and Cushing, Texas and graduated high school in May 1958. She also attended Texas College in Tyler, Texas. In 1960, Ruthie moved to Dallas, Texas to live with her cousin. On July 13, 1968, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Allen Junior Wilks, and they were blessed with two sons, James Allen Wilks, II and Alton Jerome Wilks.

Ruthie brought to this union a daughter, Carla Perricone and Allen brought to this union a son, Rodney Abrams.

She served her community for greater than fifty-two years as a loving and dedicated nurse. Ruthie loved her family and enjoyed cooking their favorite meals or baking their favorite desserts. She was also an expert seamstress and often made clothes for her daughter and suits for her husband and sons. She was known at the church and among friends as the "go to" person for delicious, home-made "Pound Cake".

Ruthie confessed Christ at an early age and subsequently became a member of the Full Gospel Holy Temple Church on June 5, 1974. She served happily and faithfully on the FGHT Usher board for greater than thirty-two years, Sunday School and Bible Class Teacher, Music Department, New Member Orientation, Women Called to Duty, Bereavement Ministry, Meals on Wheels and Homeless Ministry and Helping Hand Outreach Ministry for many years. In essence, Sis Ruthie Wilks was faithful in all things and was eager to help the ministry in whatever capacity she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elisha (Lige) Bass and Annie Lee Esco (Percy) Bass, spouse Allen Junior Wilks, and one brother Unice (Charles) Bass and one sister Shirley Hardaway.

Ruthie leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Carla Lynn Perricone; two sons, James Allen Wilks, II and Alton Jerome Wilks (Tiandra); One step-son Rodney Abrams, three brothers, Delbert Lee Bass {Shirley), L.
