SANDRA KAY WILSON

September 9, 1960 — April 5, 2025

In loving memory of Sandra Kay Wilson, who blessed this world with her kindness and strength, we gather to celebrate her life. Born on September 9, 1960, in Bastrop, Texas, Sandra was the cherished daughter of Allen Green and Catherine Wilson. She began her journey in education in her hometown, later moving to Dallas, Texas, where she proudly graduated from South Oak Cliff High School.

Known affectionately as "Gerena," she was a dedicated worker, committing 14 years to the Wyndham Garden Hotel before making the move to Arkansas. There, she continued her passion for service by joining the Magnolia Independent School District until her health no longer allowed it.

Sandra’s deep faith was evident from an early age; she embraced Christ wholeheartedly and shared her joy through singing as a faithful choir member. Her warm spirit and unwavering loyalty made her a beloved presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Family was always at the forefront of her heart, and she selflessly devoted herself to nurturing and caring for her loved ones.

She joins in eternal rest her parents, Allen Green and Catherine Wilson; her beloved husband, Andrew R. Payton; and her sisters Velma “Sugar Ray” Green and Barbara Hughes, along with her brother Larry Wilson.

Sandra leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories cherished by her daughter, Shmela Payton (and her partner, Marcus); her son, Andrew Payton; and her precious grandchildren: Marriah Cooper, Zarria Cooper, Shaniya Cooper, and her grandson, Marcus “DJ” Cooper Jr. She is also remembered with love by her special bonus daughter, Shacarla Hill, her aunt Hettie Wilson, and her siblings: Jean Green, Eva Green, Teri Wilson (Nicky), Undrea Williams-Green (Bobby), Sharon Sauels, Gloria Sauels, and brother Allen Green Jr. Additionally, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

As we reflect on Sandra's life, we find comfort in the love she gave and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the countless hearts she touched. Rest in peace, dear Gerena; your love remains our guiding light.
