Shana Shonate Veney-Davis, a cherished soul from Lancaster, TX, ascended to her heavenly home on December 18th, surrounded by her beloved family. She departed this world at the age of 48, finding her peaceful rest at Medical City Plano, where the abundance of love from her family enveloped her in her final moments.
Born on March 29, 1978, in Richmond County, Virginia, Shana was a beacon of warmth and light to all who knew her. She was the middle child in a close-knit family and was blessed with a host of siblings whom she adored. Shana received her education in the public schools of her hometown, laying the foundation for a fulfilling career as a logistics transport specialist with the esteemed Honda Merchant Marines. Her tenacious spirit and easygoing nature earned her the admiration of many, while her caring heart remained her most memorable trait.
Shana was a devoted mother, celebrating the joy of raising two remarkable sons—D’Andre Keshaun Davis and Nigel Cornell Carson—who continue to reside in Lancaster, TX. Her greatest pride and joy came in the form of her grandson, Zane Cornell Carson, who lit up her life and was the spark of her heart. A lifelong supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, she embraced her interests with enthusiasm—whether it was bowling, shopping, or exploring new destinations.
In her journey, Shana faced the profound loss of her beloved mother, Janice Serita Veney-Terrell, and her husband, Mr. Rodney Cornell Carson. However, the love she shared with her family remained a guiding light. She leaves behind her father, Boyd Ray Burrell; her sons, D’Andre Davis and Nigel Carson; her grandson, Zane Carson; her brother, Andre Veney; her sister, Chasity Veney-Hall; and extended family, including great uncle Rodney Johnson, great aunt Erica Wright, and her paternal grandmother, Georgia Carson.
Shana's heart was also filled with a community of friends who cherished her deeply, especially Taylor Anderson, the mother of her beloved grandson. The bonds formed throughout her life—from childhood friendships to her work family—will ensure that her spirit lives on in stories and memories forever cherished.
As we remember Shana, let us celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
