Sharon Oliver was born on April 4, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas, to Lena Jo Walker and Robert Edward Oliver. She later moved to North Portland, Oregon, where she was baptized at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church then attending and graduating from Jefferson High School. Sharon furthered her education through Job Corps, where she earned a certification in nursing. This began her meaningful career as a home healthcare provider, lovingly caring for individuals including Don, Walter, and Barbara in assisted living.
Sharon had a passion for caring for others, which was evident in her joy for cooking. She delighted in preparing feasts for family and friends and generously provided home-cooked meals to those experiencing homelessness. She also enjoyed spontaneous trips with her best friend, Nicola Harden, to Blue Lake and Benson Park in Portland, Oregon.
Sharon was a devoted mother to her three children: Serome James Jr., Sharonda James, and Mychael Oliver. She was a proud and loving grandmother to four grandchildren: Tyrell James, Tyshawn James, Tyrese James, and Mychaela “Royalty” Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her mother Lena Jo Walker; stepfather, Eddie Lee Walker; father, Robert Edward Oliver; grandfather, Nathaniel Davis; grandmother, Olivia May Thomas; great-grandmother, Zenobia Inez ”Big Mama” Daniel; and her two older brothers, Otha Lee Banks-Walker and Charles Banks-Oliver.
Sharon leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Sharonda James, Mychael Oliver, and Serome James; her beloved grandchildren; her godchildren Khaleaha Lewis, Kawaun Benton, and Kaniysha Harden; her siblings, Karen Banks and Robert Banks; her niece, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A very special thank you is extended to Loletha Jones for her love and support.
Sharon’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on through all who were blessed to know and love her.
