With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Tamara Denise Ross, a shining light whose warmth and vivacity touched all who knew her. Born on June 24, 1962, in Dallas, Texas, Tamara lived her life with an infectious spirit that brought joy, strength, and love to her family, friends, and community until her peaceful passing on June 9, 2026, in her beloved hometown of Wilmer, TX.
Tamara was a beacon of positivity. Her fun-loving nature was evident in all she did—whether it was dressing with an elegant flair, dancing with happiness, or nurturing her family with soulful recipes like her famous Fish Fridays and Soul Food Sundays. Every Friday, she took great pleasure in cooking fish for her family, a cherished weekly tradition that brought everyone together. On Sundays, the kitchen would simmer with the rich flavors of soul food, a testament to her deep love and care for those around her.
Her heart was as expansive as her energy. Tamara adored spending time watching sports with her son, sharing the excitement of the game and creating lasting memories. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, wrestling and playing with them on a regular basis. With her daughter, she delighted in long conversations and adventurous travels, weaving closer bonds with each journey. Her love extended beyond family, embracing everyone she met with kindness and generosity.
An avid fan of classic television and films, Tamara found joy in watching soap operas like "Dallas," "Family Business," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Cheaters," "Hell's Kitchen," and "In the Heat of the Night." She was captivated by the drama and storytelling of these shows, just as she loved the timeless magic of old movies, including “Rocky” and works starring Steven Seagal. These hobbies reflected her rich inner world, a blend of passion, resilience, and a deep appreciation for narratives that inspired courage and heart.
Tamara’s lifestyle was a reflection of her commitment to health and vibrancy. She embraced healthy eating and exercise, maintaining a positive outlook that fueled her hardworking spirit. Yet, perhaps what defined her most was her dedication to service. She poured her heart into Girl Power on the Move, an organization she cared deeply about, empowering young girls and fostering strength and confidence in future generations. She also started the organization called Jewels for Jesus at her church in addition to volunteering in any capacity under the leadership of Pastor Epps at Community Missionary Baptist Church. This work was a source of immense pride for her, alongside the greatest accomplishment of her life—her beloved children.
A visitation to honor Tamara’s remarkable life will be held on June 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. The funeral service will follow on June 18, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the same location, offering a time for all who loved her to come together, remember, and celebrate the extraordinary woman she was.
Tamara Denise Ross leaves behind memories that will forever bloom in the hearts of those privileged to know her. Through her laughter, her wisdom, her advice, solicited and unsolicited, and her unwavering love, she has left an indelible mark on the world—a legacy of kindness, strength, and boundless spirit that will continue to inspire. Though she has departed this earth, her essence remains alive within the love and lives she touched so deeply.
