TECUMSEH PEQUINN THOMPSON-TAYLOR KING

DR. TECUMSEH PEQUINN THOMPSON-TAYLOR KING, a dedicated elementary teacher and accomplished entrepreneur, passed away on April 29, 2026, in Midlothian, Texas. Born on March 10, 1957, in Dallas, TX, Tecumseh lived a life marked by steadfast commitment to education, family, and community.

Educated at Ennis High School, graduating with the Class of 1975, she furthered her studies at East Texas State University receiving a BS degree in Elementary Education and MBA in Education and PHD in Philosophy of Education graduating Summa Cum Laude. 

Throughout her career, Dr. King served with distinction as an elementary teacher in DFW metroplex, , San Antonio, TX  as fas as  Baumholder, Germany for Department of Defense Overseas School District Her passion for teaching was evident in her love for her students and her unwavering dedication to their growth and success.

Beyond the classroom, Tecumseh was a woman of intellectual rigor and ambition, proudly earning a PhD in Philosophy. She was the founder and owner of a successful real estate firm alongside several other business ventures, marking her as a formidable figure in both education and enterprise. 

Her personality was characterized by a stern-minded resolve balanced by a compassionate and giving nature. Known as a social butterfly, she never met a stranger and embraced a wide circle of friends and loved ones. She carried deep empathy and concern for others, attributes that extended into her involvement with her church family, which she dearly cherished. Tecumseh also enjoyed frequent traveling abroad, immersing herself in diverse cultures, and indulged in shopping as a favored pastime.

She is survived by her brothers, Gregreal P. Thompson (and his wife Harmetta) and Anthony M. Thompson (and his spouse Minyon); sisters, Ferdencio T. Pough and Tobarkoa A. Thompson; her aunt, Gereta A. McGraw; uncle, Othridge McGraw; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember her warmth and generosity.

Tecumseh was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett M. Thompson and Tecumseh P. Thompson; husband, John T. Taylor, her brother, Bernard M. Thompson, and brother-in-law, Thomas E Pough; and her nephew, Marka L. Thompson.

A viewing will take place on May 9, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Jubilee Community Church, located at 200 Lion Street, DeSoto, TX 75115. This will be immediately followed by her funeral service from 2:00 PM at the same location. Her burial will be held on May 14, 2026, starting at 10:15 AM at Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Dallas, TX.

Tecumseh Pequinn Thompson-Taylor King's legacy is one of dedication, intellectual accomplishment, and an abiding commitment to the welfare and uplift of others. Her life’s work and loving spirit leave an indelible mark upon all who knew her.
