Tony Andrew Jones passed away on September 10, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on July 30, 1958, in New Boston, Texas, and lived a life marked by learning, hard work, and a lively spirit that left a lasting impression on those around him.
Tony’s path was shaped early by dedication to education and personal excellence. He graduated from Hooks High School in Hooks, Texas, with the Class of 1975. He went on to attend Prairie View A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with honors (Magna Cum Laude) in 1979. Continuing to build on that strong foundation, he later received his MBA from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, in 1985. His commitment to study and achievement reflected the very qualities so many recognized in him: he was studious, thoughtful, and quietly determined.
His professional life carried that same sense of purpose. Tony worked with Gulf Pipeline Company in Beaumont, Texas, and with Transco in Houston, Texas. He also forged his own path through self-employment as a building contractor and real estate agent. Through each season of his career, he brought knowledge, discipline, and independence to his work.
Beyond his accomplishments, Tony will be remembered for the qualities that made him so distinctive. He had the heart of a comedian, a quiet nature, and a genuine love for people. He enjoyed a wide range of interests that reflected both energy and imagination. He loved tennis, golf, swimming, reading, and writing, and he cherished “The Ballad.” He enjoyed boxing and skating, was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, and took pleasure in traveling and attending Broadway plays. These passions gave color to his days and offered many ways for others to know the fullness of who he was. He was married to Rosalyn Bryles.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Verline Cooks Jones and father, Andrew Jones. He is also lovingly remembered by Shirley Hale, Willietta Bradley, Leo Hale, Sr., Leuw Huff, Laura Johnson, and Pastor Herman Goodman. His memory remains dear as well to his cousins, Vincent Childs and Geraldine Powell, Diane Banks and best friend, Bennie Smith whose bond of family continues to carry his presence forward in love and remembrance.
Tony was preceded in death by his grandmother, Victoria Walker; his grandfather, Fred Powell; his uncle, Willis Powell; and his aunt, Luevenia Powells. Their memory now joins his in the hearts of all who loved them.
Tony Andrew Jones will be remembered as a man of intellect, humor, and warmth—a man who pursued his goals with discipline and met life with curiosity and heart. May his life continue to be honored in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he inspired.
