VELMA JEAN DAVIS COLEMAN

Velma Jean Davis Coleman, a woman of faith, strength, and deep devotion to family, passed away on September 20, 2026 in Dallas, TX.   She was born on April 11,1938 in Kiowa County, Oklahoma and lived a life marked by perseverance, warmth, and a steady love for those around her.

Velma was educated at Burnett High School, where she played basketball, and later attended Jarvis Christian College. Throughout her life, she brought determination and purpose to all she did. She retired after 35 years with Texas Instruments, a remarkable testament to her dedication and work ethic. Her working life also included service as a substitute teacher for Dallas ISD, work as an Aflac agent, service as a notary, and time as a Kirby representative. In every role, she carried herself with the resilience and care that defined her.

She was remembered as a God-fearing woman whose life reflected her faith. Caring, sweet, lovable, strong, and resilient, Velma left an impression that endured in the hearts of those who knew her. She was a woman of God and a family tutor, always willing to share what she knew and to help guide those she loved. Among her proudest accomplishments were her boys, who remained close to her heart.

Velma also found joy in the simple and spirited pleasures of life. She enjoyed bowling, was a card-bid whiz, loved reading, and played the piano. These gifts and interests added color to her days and created fond memories for family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Phillip D. Coleman; her grandsons, Ashlee Coleman and Daniel Coleman; her great-granddaughter, Hanae Coleman; and her sister, Catherine Wattley. In their lives, her love continues on, and in their memories, her presence remains a lasting blessing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby D. Coleman; her son, Marcus Z. Coleman; her father and mother, Will and Elsie Davis; her brother, Robert Earl Davis; and her sisters, Helen Hall, Charlene Wilcots, Mae Belle Davis, Lela Belle Davis, and Marjorie Rae Davis. Their reunion is a comforting thought to all who loved her.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing on October 6, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, 4155 S. R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, Texas 75224. Funeral services will be held on October 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Way The Truth The Life Christian Church, 1702 South Denley Drive, Dallas, Texas 75216. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.

Velma Jean Davis Coleman’s life was one of enduring faith, loving service, and quiet strength. She will be remembered with love, gratitude, and honor.
