VERA FUQUA DIXON SANDERS

VERA FUQUA DIXON SANDERS, born on August 31, 1925, and beloved by many, passed away on February 13, 2026, at the age of 100. Mudear was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to faith, service, and unwavering love for her family and community.

Throughout her life, Mudear was deeply engaged with her church and community. She attended countless church conferences and served in numerous capacities at Greater Edward Chapel AME, where she was a devoted member for 91 years. Her roles included steward, layman, and secretary, reflecting her deep commitment to her church and its mission. Mudear was not only an active participant but also a guiding light for others, inspiring generations with her dedication and spirit.

Mudear personality shined brightly; she was known for being very outgoing and approachable, greeting everyone with warmth and kindness. Throughout her life, she contributed her talents as a seamstress and caterer, sharing her gifts with those around her and creating an inviting atmosphere wherever she went.

In addition to her extensive community involvement, Mudear held dear her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, fostering love and connection among her extended family. Her enthusiasm for life was undiminished through the years, illustrated by her quirky habit of reading the obituaries in the newspaper — an endearing reflection of her interest in the lives of those in her community.

A viewing will be held on February 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home- Dallas Allene, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75224. This will be followed by a wake service at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, starting at 7:00 PM and concluding at 9:00 PM on the same day, at 4600 Solar Lane, Dallas, TX 75216.

Madear Funeral Service will take place on February 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St Paul AME, at 2300 Metropolitan Avenue, Dallas, TX 75215, with burial to follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 PM, located at 1311 Murdock Road, Dallas, TX 75217.

As we reflect on Madear life, we remember not only her incredible service to her church and community but also the love and joy she spread to everyone she encountered. VERA FUQUA DIXON SANDERS will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
