VERNON EDWARD WATERS

September 6, 1964 — January 27, 2026

Vernon Edward Waters, born on September 6, 1964, in Corsicana, Texas, journeyed through life as a beacon of warmth and joy until his departure from this world on January 27, 2026, in Mesquite, Texas. He was a man who wore the love for his family as a badge of honor, devoting his days to forging memories filled with laughter and connection.

Vernon's roots ran deep; educated at Pinkston High School, he embraced the spirit of his hometown and the values instilled by his beloved parents, Flora Roland and Willie Waters. His family was his universe, and he thrived on nurturing relationships, always the easy-going presence at gatherings, greeting everyone with a smile that could light up the darkest of rooms. A true people person, Vernon never met a stranger—his natural ability to converse made him a friend to many, spreading joy effortlessly to those around him.

With a fulfilling career in the fast food industry, Vernon exemplified hard work and dedication, but it was his role as a father to his son, Vernon Nunerly, that brought him the utmost pride. The love he held for his family was profound; he cherished moments spent eating chicken, engaging in lively games of dominoes, and passionately cheering for his favorite teams—the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks—as if each game was a sacred event. Those joyful evenings were filled with camaraderie, where laughter echoed through the air, and memories were stitched into the fabric of family history.

Vernon's legacy is also woven into the lives of his surviving siblings: four sisters, Linda Crawford, Linda Waters, and Cotelos Waters Mason(Ted), Patricia Wilson,  alongside three brothers, Willie Wayne Waters, Zachary D. Waters, and Gregory Lynn Waters (Joyce), stepsister, Towanda Savage.  They share in the love and memories that remain, alongside a host of nieces, nephews,  great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who feel the lasting impact of his presence.

While Vernon reunites with his departed sisters, Carla K. Waters Brown and Darlene Waters, his spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who loved him. As we gather to remember a life filled with joy, love, and laughter, we celebrate Vernon Edward Waters—a true family man whose memory will forever be a source of inspiration and love for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
