The sleep of death has again broken a link in our chain. The demise of our beloved Vicky Catherine Randolph has saddened our family and community. Her homegoing has caused a great emptiness in our hearts, and her presence will be missed.
Therefore, let it be remembered that even as we mourn for her, we are resigned to the will of an all-knowing, kind, heavenly Father. We must express gratitude to God for the times we have shared with our precious Vicky in the fifty-two years and eleven months that she lived.
Vicky was born August 2, 1967 in Memphis, TN to the union of the late Jimmie Lee Randolph, Sr., and Annie Mae Randolph. Vicky received her formal education through the Memphis Public School System and graduated from Fairley High School in 1985. She later attended The Art Institute of Dallas, TX where she received a degree in Culinary Arts.
Realizing the need for peace that passes all understanding, Vicky Randolph accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized at Lord’s Tabernacle Holiness Church in Memphis, TN, and remained a member there until moving to Arlington, TX with her family in 1986. Vicky later became a member of the Potter’s House in Dallas, TX under the leadership of Bishop T.D. Jakes where she was a member for nearly 20 years until she was called home.
Vicky started her career at American Airlines Federal Credit Union (AAFCU) in Irving, TX at the young age of 19 working in the IT Operations Support Group. She advanced to a Support Analyst later in her career. Among her peers, she was known as being an “extremely pleasant and positive person,” a “wonderful and gentle person and soul” who had “deep connections and bonds with so many…” Vicki retired from the Credit Union after 33 years of service. Continuing her career, she recently accepted a new remote work-from-home position as an IT Support Analyst with Alogent Holdings, Inc.
Each one who has come to Christ and is born into the Kingdom of God has been given special gifts of service to use for God’s glory. Vicky’s gifts were hospitality, serving, and showing mercy. We were all privileged to witness her unrelenting servant's heart, as she lived these God-given attributes out every day of her life. It was so unlike Vicky to place herself before others. She gave so much of herself, as she always selflessly helped meet the needs of others, oftentimes placing their needs and wishes above her own. She lived to brighten our days. If you needed Vicky, no matter what it was, day or night, or to what extent, she was always there for you. She loved her family and friends very much; and we loved her too!! We will always cherish her smile, as much as her kind and loving ways. She cared for her family and friends in such a way that all who knew her will forever feel the empty void of her physical presence. But knowing Vicky as we do, even now she would want to care for us and assure us that she is okay and always with us in our hearts.
Vicky’s love for cooking and gift of hospitality was the secret to great family gatherings, especially during special holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and other occasions. It brought her so much joy to watch others enjoy her foods and special desserts. She would just smile and laugh at everyone eating and overindulging themselves. Not only did she bring the family and friends together for great meals and celebrations, Vicky made it part of her life's work. She used her culinary skills to start her own business, A1 Catering. As a result, she blessed people all over with some of the most delicious creative foods, desserts, and visual presentations for many different events.
Not only did she love cooking and serving her family, Vicky loved serving her community! She volunteered countless of hours with Meals on Wheels, compassionately caring for our elderly community, touching many of them by her warm gentle spirit. Also, for the last three years during the Thanksgiving holidays, Vicky partnered with Mission Arlington, in Arlington, TX by cooking and serving the homeless community. She even invited her friends and family, including her nieces and nephew to participate in this joyous community event. She truly had a heart of gold!
Although she never had kids of her own, she set no limits when it came to loving, supporting, and nurturing her nieces and nephews. They all loved her dearly, as she was like a second mom to them all. She always went above and beyond the call of duty to spoil them and give them whatever they wanted, especially for Christmas and birthdays! She was a great aunt and they will miss her very much.
God called Vicky home to eternal rest on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 10:18 a.m. at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, Mansfield, TX.
