Viola Vivian Draper, born on February 25, 1928, in Kemp, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, in Cedar Hill, Texas. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community.
Throughout her life, Viola made significant contributions in both her professional and personal endeavors. She dedicated her career as a policy rater at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence shone through. She was known not only for her work ethic but also for her warm and outgoing personality, which endeared her to colleagues and friends alike.
Viola had a rich formal education rooted in Kaufman County, which she utilized throughout her involvement in her church as both a Church Secretary and in her role with the Friendship District Association. Her inspirational nature extended beyond her professional life; she touched the lives of many through her faith and service.
In addition to her professional commitments, Viola was an exceptional cook and talented seamstress. She enjoyed participating in activities that brought joy and connection to her life, including being a member of a bowling league, where her competitive spirit flourished.
Viola was the proud mother of six children: sons Donald McCartney, Clifford McCartney, Niki Draper, and daughters Sandra Gatson and Lisa Loyd. She also leaves behind ten devoted grandchildren, alongside a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her presence and spirit.
She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Constance Loyd, who held a special place in her heart.
A Prayer Service will be held in her honor on August 26, 2025, at the Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas (Allene) in Dallas, Texas, starting at 6:00 PM. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Lancaster, Texas, on August 27, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM.
Viola Vivian Draper’s legacy of love, inspiration, and community service will continue to resonate through all those who knew her. Her memory will be cherished forever.
