VIRGINIA DALE HUGHES CHAVEZ

Virginia Dale Hughes Chavez passed away on September 14, 2026, in Seagoville, Texas. She was born on November 13, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love for others.

Virginia graduated with her GED and continued her education at El Centro College. She devoted part of her working life to caring for and teaching young children as a teacher at Open Door Preschool, a role that reflected her warmth, patience, and giving spirit.

She found joy in the simple and lasting gifts of life. Gardening, church, family gatherings, singing and dancing, karaoke, and bingo were among the pleasures that brought her happiness and kept those around her smiling. She will be remembered for her love for the Lord, for her family, for her friends, and for people. Those who knew Virginia knew a woman whose presence carried love, energy, and joy.

Of all the blessings in her life, Virginia was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Latasha Johnson, and her son, Derrick Hughes; by her sister, Donna Wisner; and by her six grandchildren, Kiera, Joshua, Marquis, Dez're, Derrick Jr., and Aliya. In their lives, her love continues on, and in their memories, she leaves family that will remain strong and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Cooper; her mother, Vernell Hughes McCoy; her sisters, Darlene Hughes, Joann Hooper, and Vanessa Baker; and her brothers, David Hughes, James Hughes, and Michael Hughes.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on September 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas-Allene, 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, Texas 75224. A funeral service will be held on September 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at One Family Fellowship, 13501 Timothy Lane, Balch Springs, Texas 75180.

Virginia Dale Hughes Chavez will be remembered with love for the faith she carried, the joy she shared, and the devotion she gave so freely to her family and to all whose lives she touched.
