Dr. Voddie Baucham, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, entered into the presence of the Lord on September 25, 2025.
For more than thirty years, Voddie devoted his life to teaching, preaching, and shepherding others. He served as Dean of the School of Divinity at African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia, for ten years, and later as President of Founders Seminary. Known for his ability to make Scripture clear and relevant, he touched countless lives with his preaching, writing, and teaching.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Voddie’s journey to faith began in college, a path that gave him a unique ability to speak both to believers and to skeptics. He held degrees from Houston Baptist University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, with additional post-graduate study at Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford.
Beyond the pulpit and classroom, Voddie was also a voice actor and a skilled Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor, winning numerous tournaments including the 2014 Pan American Championship in his division.
Above all, Voddie was devoted to his family. He and his wife, Bridget, were married for 36 years and built a legacy of faith and love together. He is survived by his wife; his nine children: Voddie Baucham III (Christa Cash-Baucham), Jasmine Holmes (Phillip), Elijah, Asher, Judah, Micah, Safya, Amos, and Simeon Baucham; and his three grandchildren: Walter, Ezra, and Malcolm Holmes. He is also survived by his mother, Frances Baucham, and his siblings: Naiema English, Gebel Baucham (Kahlia), Nicholai Baucham, and Malachi Baucham.
He will be remembered for his faith, his integrity, his devotion to his family, and the countless lives he touched around the world.
